Fashion Week Poland
When visiting a new country for the first time everything feels fresh and vibrant in an entirely unexpected and exciting way. Poland was no exception. Despite having heard mixed reviews about Łódź and what might lie in store at Fashion Week Poland, the event and the city left nothing but a remarkably positive impact.
In a city that is bursting with creativity and enthusiasm for the future, there is an unavoidable discomfort for the uncertainty of what lies ahead for the region. Underfunded and with little recognition, both within Poland and abroad, the ambition to pursue creative outlets is under threat. The quality and sheer devotion to fashion was stark and, quite frankly, humbling. The collections were, overall, of a very high standard and were presented in a way that felt refreshingly raw yet wearable.
As the city once operated as a major textile mecca for the country, many of the buildings are deserted and feel as though they are decaying into something separate and new. Old factories are housing polished catwalks and act as a gathering ground for the cities creative kids by night. As I was told by one girl that grew up in the city, 'in Łódź even the grey is beautiful.' I couldn't agree more.

What I Wore: Day 4
How adorable are these cat print shorts? Yes, that's right cat print. They are made from really thick cotton and almost feel like a pair of denim shorts. It was such fun wearing these because everyone I spoke to would realize the print mid-converstaion and exclaim, 'that print is amazing!' or something to that effect. They were so ironically uncool that they were cool. Thought I'd dabble in a bit of print clashing and colour popping - two key trends I've noticed from LFW this year.
Wearing: leather jacket by DLUX Collections (this is the softest leather jacket I have ever felt), cat print shorts, leather bag (which I am obsessed with now... it's so Celine) and polka dot jumper all by Paul & Joe(courtesy of Harriet from HPR London), Next tights and vintage Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.
p.s. How did I forget to mention that I've been blogging for Next over fashion week? Check out the posts I've done for them here.
What I Wore: Day 2
Swapped my skinnies for some flares and dabbled in a bit of bright colour for the second day of London Fashion Week. I wanted to be warm so trousers were a must, especially as I could hide my little multi-coloured Happy Socks under the wide leg... no more shivering ankles. Also thought a trench coat was a must and this gorgeous little one by Sonia Rykiel is so sweet and feminine with the little ties at the wrists and shoulder. Topped it all off with this Anton Heunis necklace that I am crazy about.
Wearing: Equipment shirt, J Brand Lovestory jeans (have converted me away from skinnies... something I never thought was possible), Anton Heunis necklace, and Sonia by Sonia Rykiel trench (all My-Wardrobe). Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and Happy Socks hidden underneath.

Retro Super Future
The whiteness is almost blinding. I busted out my new Retro Super Future sunglasses today to help shade my eyes from the snow... even though the sun is barely making it over the horizon. Okay okay, who am I kidding, I just wanted to wear them.
Wearing: borrowed fur hat and sheepskin coat from the Inglis family cupboard under the stairs and Lucia Havana Glitter sunglasses from Retro Super Future that I got for Christmas.
In honor of England
England let us down in the World Cup (and so did America). But, in honor of Canada Day I thought it only seemed right to bring a flag sailing with us today. We didn't have a moose one so we settled for the Union Jack. Can you tell it was a little bit windy?

drip drop... drip drop....
Heavy snow was forecast and instead rain is falling.... I guess the upside is it looks more like Spring is on its way?
I never thought I would put a photo of myself up on here... but lately I have been thinking 'if everyone else can do it, why can't I?' Well... let's be honest, there are a number of reasons (boring outfits, shoddy photos, etc etc etc). Today I have manned up though. I would be ever so grateful to hear any of your thoughts on this new addition of 'me' to the blog...
Wearing:
Hunter 'Lady N' Wellington Boots
Alexander McQueen Flapper Shoulder Bag
Malchick & Devotcha Native American Skull T-Shirt
Lord & Taylor Cashmere Beanie
I am a little in love with this t-shirt. I got it for $5 in the UO after Christmas sales... along with 14 other t-shirts and 2 dresses (
seriously
$5! you can't even get a coffee in the UK for $5).
Also, you can see my little camera in that second photo... oh my oh my, I am desperate for
. If you have any advice on cameras I would love to hear it... not that I will be able to get a new one anytime soon... my birthday is coming up in April though.... a girl can always dream, right?
