A LITTLE BIT IN BETWEEN...
Freezing temperatures have meant that I've been staying inside cuddled up under a blanket most days. How did over a week go by without me posting anything on this blog? I've just started taking an intensive German class so my mind is tuned into arbeitens and Deutsch instead of fashion. Please accept my sincerest apologies. I still love this blog but I do feel as though I've come up against a bit of a brick wall. Does anyone else ever feel that way? I'm not sure what I want to post about and outfit shots just seem so mundane these days. How many photos can you see of me snuggled up in a warm coat? Fashion week is coming up in a few weeks so hopefully that will give me an injection of inspiration. In the meantime here's a shot of me from yesterday wearing a casual low maintenance outfit. I'm loving burgundy legs and wooly jumpers these days.
Wearing: Laird & Co Hatters hat, Patouf jumper, J.Crew jacket, Topshop jeans, Lilifi clutch and Balenciaga boots.
STARING INTO OBLIVION...
Wandering around Stockholm in head-to-toe Swedish brands makes me feel happy in my heart. I wish everyday could include late wake ups and latte fueled walks through the snow. I'm currently obsessed with this pleated back coat from Patouf. It's so unique and perfect for wrapping up in.
Wearing: Patouf Anouschka coat and Edith shoes, Acne jeans.
Bare that belly
I decided to rock this Patouf cropped top with a little white t-shirt underneath because I'm just not ready to embrace the midriff full on. I love this top, by the way. It's a little sci-fi crazy with its silver sheen and structured shape. I like that. It means I can pretend to be on the Starship Enterprise.
Weeee! Spring is here.
Spring in Zurich is the best thing ever. It's sunny and warm. The trees and flowers are blooming. It's calm. You can't help but get a tan. After weeks and weeks of it being -15 degrees the shift in temperature is heavenly. Let's not talk about the weather though, let's talk midriffs. What do we think people? Are they best saved for the catwalk? Can they work on real streets with real people? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. The thing is, regardless of how razor-sharp your abs might be (and trust me, I know we all have abs that could cut glass) it takes a lot of confidence to rock a belly baring top. Depending on how cropped you go they can start to resemble a bra top and I'm just not sure how that will go down in the city. Maybe it's a look best saved for weekend breaks away... hmmm. What do you reckon?

It's a little sci-fi crazy with its silver sheen and structured shape. I like that. It means I can pretend to be on the Starship Enterprise while I walk around town (much to my husband's distaste). I want to wear it with something seriously fierce (read: a patent black shiny high-waisted pencil skirt and some kick-butt heels) but jeans and Converse fit a bit more with my everyday needs... for now at least.

JUMPING BACK IN THE DEEP END...

I'm obsessed with knitwear at the moment.
Ever since seeing this Carven jumper on Leanne last season I've been dreaming about a piece of knitwear with some sort of neck detail. As you can imagine I was over the moon when Anna sent me Patouf's AW12 look book a few weeks ago and, right there in the mix, was a little dusky pink knit with black contrasting pattern at the neck and shoulders. Swoon. She kindly sent it over just in time for fashion week and I was so glad because I felt very in the know wearing it. Hello, have you seen the roll neck sheer chest jumper from Marios Schwab's collection - there are parallels.
Wearing: Flyaway jumper - Patouf AW12, pink 2nd Day jeans (Varg), Theory jacket (My Wardobe), Muriee cashmere scarf (Task), Mykita sunglasses, YSL arty ring, Maison Scotch clutch (Sane) and my always trusty Balenciaga boots.
p.s. headed to Paris today! Eeek. If you're there then give me a shout. Any tips/tricks for surviving the city?
The little prince...
Gimme, gimme, gimme...
Why is it that spring collections always catch me off guard? Isn't it still summer?! How are we talking about next spring already. I've barely gotten my head around AW for crying out loud. Never you mind though because the future looks bright. Whenever I get an e-mail from Patouf with the brand's latest collection I am delighted and scramble to get the file unzipped as quickly as possible. This season did not disappoint. I'm drooling over the warm colour palette, unexpected shapes (hello ankle grazing wide legs), alien-esque robotic shoulders, and cut away knit detailing...
Anna Angseryd is incredible at reinterpreting her brand each season. When I first spotted her in the courtyard at Somerset House her collection was gorgeous but far girlier than the designs shown here. Over the past few seasons she’s worked with tougher fabrics, brought in military prints, and has created silhouettes that, at first make me scratch my head, but then have me swooning.
Patouf is, without a doubt, my favourite Swedish brand - and that’s saying a lot. Talent is pouring out of the country at the moment. In the wake of Acne’s monumental success there’s a perennial buzz floating above all things Scandinavian. The country’s design aesthetic seems to have captured the zietgeist of the moment. It’s minimal and raw and yet authentically rooted in something culturally historic. Each season I fall harder and deeper in love with the brand. The 'Patouf girl' seems to be coming into herself. She might have her prim side but there’s a part that’s much darker and more refined - something that's resonating with me at the moment.
Inspired by: Burberry Prorsum
Don't get me wrong, Summer is by far my favourite season. Nothing beats flip flops, wash-and-go hair, long days, and sunshine... but I can't get Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2010 show out of my head and it's got me dreaming about next season's wardrobe upgrades. Never before has outerwear led to such a stir within my sheepskin-craving-heart. If I happened to have a spare grand sitting around I'd throw it all away on Acne's gorgeous black aviator jacket. It's the stuff dreams are made of... since I spotted it in the their shop in Stockholm earlier this month I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I want to wear it paired with a soft floaty sheer black dress like the one from Urban Outfitters and some chunky (but sensible) wedges. Gone are the days of me craving a pair of statement heels, that is... if it means I can squeeze my feet into these little Mentor beauties. Paired with some skinny jeans and an oversized khaki shirt? Fall 2010 sorted. All I need is the Patouf faux-fur to wrap around my neck and I'll be good to go. There we have it... my Autumn/Winter 2010 wishlist in a five piece mini-shopping basket. Done and dusted.
