How many pairs of jeans should a person own?
According to Fashion United, the average number of jeans a woman owns is seven. But the catch? They say she only really wears four. Mind = blown.
So, how have I come to have so many pairs and is it a bit excessive?
The truth is, I’ve just sort of accumulated them over the past 6 years. They range in size from a 27 to a 31. Having had two kids recently has meant my weight has fluctuated significantly. A lot of people would say that I should have cleaned out my closet more thoroughly over the past few years. That no one needs 15 pairs of jeans - especially if half of them don’t fit perfectly at any given time.
But you know what? I’m glad I’ve held onto them.
They’re all classic styles and they work just as well today as they did the day I bought them. Most have a skinny or slim leg. They’re all in shades of classic chambray or black. I have no regrets.
I’m ok with having items in my wardrobe that are a bit too big or a bit too small. It means that when my weight fluctuates (which I’m sure it will continue to do) I don’t have to freak out about not having clothes that fit. So, I’m holding onto my 15 pairs for now and, who knows, I might even add a couple new pairs into the mix this year.
But back to the original question: how many pairs of jeans should a person own? There’s no right answer but I think having 3-5 pairs that you really love and that fit well is a pretty good benchmark to work towards.
SITTING ON A DOCK BY THE BAY...
This is just a quick hello from Sweden...
This past week I've been hanging out on a boat and swimming in a lake. I feel pretty un-fashion and I love it. I'm currently glued to this vintage Laura Ashley dress that I stole from my mom. It originally reached down to my ankles - I had a big chunk of fabric cut off to make it a bit more wearable. I also finally found two new swimsuits. Both are strapless, one is from Seafolly and is black and the other is cream with gold hardware and from Varley. I'd been looking for simple swimsuits for aaages and I'm so glad I finally found two to add to my collection.

January Blues
Seriously, what is it with January? I'm finding it to be the most difficult month to get through. It starts with a theatrical bang (champagne corks flying, fireworks exploding) but simmers stagnantly when resolutions prove more difficult to achieve than write and grand plans trickle out. There's still two weeks left though, maybe it will pick itself up.

My wardrobe dreams have drifted to spring, pastel shades and bright acidic hues. The reality though is that my closet is filled with mostly blacks and greys. So I've brought in the big guns - the all powerful mood shifters: rainbow nails. Multi-coloured pastel nails seem the easiest way to nod to spring while staying frugal and bundled up. I also decided to pile on a selection of ridiculous things: two jackets, a leopard print clutch, studded heels and a headache inducing hat. But hey, it's Sunday... so why not.
