'What's french toast?'

It’s only when people ask such preposterous questions as, ‘what’s french toast’ and ‘whose Steve Urkel‘ that I remember there are subtle cultural divides present between me and all these English folk. I’ll let it slide though because, let’s face it, not everyone is as obsessed with sugar infused breakfasts or spent their Friday nights watching Family Matters back in the 90s. Anyway, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Breakfast Club is my favourite place to grab brunch in East London. With one week to go until London Fashion Week though, I’m thinking I should probably be spending my time doing something other than scoffing down ginormo portions of fried bread covered in liquified sugar? I’m afraid the Sass & Bide dress I’ve ordered is actually not going to fit (#shovesfaceshamefullyintohands). If you happen to spot me wearing it, refusing to give my jacket to the matradee, it’s because the zip will only be half way up my back.

p.s. everything in the blog shop is officially now 20% off

Wearing: Cabbages and Roses stripe slouch top and Models Own nail polish in nude beige – which I’m a little obsessed with.

  • You’re making me hungry! x

  • I didn’t know what French toast was… and I still don’t get it! A friend once told me she visited San Fran and saw people piling their breakfast plates with sausages and bacon AND then throwing syrup over their fatty infused tower. You Yanks are insano!

hahah. ok, once and for all:

French toast or ‘eggy bread’ as you Brits like to call it is bread dipped in egg and then fried. Simples.

  • mmm, all that food looks so delicious. has totally made me hungry now

  • Whaaaattt French toast isn’t common in England??? It’s one of my favorite breakfasts and so easy to make too! That looks so good with the fresh fruit, is that yogurt on top?

Also I LOVE your nail color, so pretty. I don’t own a nude/beige but now I want to!

  • I come from the land of diners so ever since I’ve landed in the UK I’ve been missing pancakes and french toast. I will definitely have to check out the Breakfast Club. As much for the awesome name as the food! Any chance you’ve had weekend brunch at the Atomic Burger in Oxford? I’ve been curious, but haven’t had the time to go.

  • I had French toast the first time when I was in New York!! Yummy!! Like Platform Princess, it took quite a lot to get my head around the bacon and eggs and maple syrup combo!! The breakfasts there though are something I still dream about most mornings!! Wish I’d been blogging then, as no doubt I’d have some photos to remind me – not that I need them. Must check out the Breakfast Club when I’m in London next week!

  • Definitely going to pop over to the shop! The cultural divide may still be there occasionally… but I do know what french toast is… I think. Isn’t that friend bread? Or maybe that means eggy bread… I love the latter. Bah well jazzy ♥

  • i love your nail polish!

and what is this french toast obsession all about – i’ve been reading about french toasts everywhere lately?

  • Haha this is funny. The US sure know how to do breakfast properly. Always beats a continental breakfast hands down!
