SUNDAYS WERE MADE FOR CAKE…
There is definitely a little anti-social bug nestled deep within me. I love spending the weekend inside wearing cashmere jumpers and silk shorts. It’s a little odd but baking feels like a miniature luxury… eating the cake afterwards is obviously the best part. I’ve yet to perfect the appearance of my baked goods. They always come out a little wonky – they’re often lopsided and the frosting never seems to go on quite right. Oh well, I console myself with the fact that they always taste delicious… surely that’s what really matters?
p.s. I learnt a little trick: sprinkle fanta on your cake once it’s cooled to make it extra-super-duper moist.
Wearing: LUCZA cashmere jumper and silk shorts.

Your cake looks yummy, I think its little imperfections just makes it looks homemade and not store bought, definitely a ++++ for me ! Can you send me a piece ?
As for your cozy outfit, I’m super jealous… When I’m lounging at home on the weekends, I’m in sweatpants and old A&F hoodies (guilty), and I definitely don’t look as glamourous as you. Wait, or was that just for the picture ??? xx from Brussels
Fanta?! That has got to be the weirdest baking tip I’ve ever heard! We must be on the same wavelength though, because I spent my sunday in the kitchen too, and loved every luxurious minute of it. I also posted my own little tip today, in case you ever need to skin hazelnuts…

Your cake looks fabulous in all its rustic goodness. Better than appearance of beauty, it looks absolutely delicious. For some reason, I love strawberries in iced cake. Yum. Sundays really were made for baking. Instead, I went to college to work on a project and then went home to watch Blue Bloods and catch up on my Bloglovin feed. It was still a pretty nice day.

That is so random, how did you learn the fanta trick??
That cake looks super delish so don’t worry if it’s not near perfection, it won’t look good where it’s going!
Does it means the sponge ends up tasting a little “Fanta-y”? Not sure that’d be a bad thing, just wondering…
So the Fanta trick is actually from Fred’s Swedish grandma. You don’t put that much – just a little sprinkle. I didn’t notice any Fanta-ish taste in the cake…
*slightly disappointed face*
How did you learn that sprinkling fanta will give it a moist taste? ahhahahaha were you just in your kitchen experimenting away with different fizzy drinks? It looks pretty damn good though!
YUM! You can bake this for me any time (and it’s all the more lovely for being a little lopsided).
And love these Lucza pieces on you!

Are you kidding? It looks amazing!! I also baked today, it was rainy and not worth going out in… although my pics aren’t as great as yours! http://www.bumpkinbetty.com

Have a nice day, xx

Umm that cake looks pretty good to me! Can you come back to the UK and move in as my resident housewife? My flatemate’s baked goods aren’t half as impressive…
P.S. I too love floating around my house in cashmere jumpers and silk shorts. Or silk blouses and cashmere jogging pants. Or leather harnesses and shocked expressions.
I would love to come back to the UK and be your housewife. xx

Never hear about that fanta part…will have to try myself to believe it

Couldn’t agree with your title more! I don’t normally look that chic when I bake though. I always end up covered in whatever I’m cooking… x
I was actually thrown off by that fanta photo, thinking you might be pouring it in to make this new type of fizzy cake tiramisu-esque goo! That’s such a neat trick, I shall try sprinkling the next time I’m taking my cookie out of the sainsbury’s bag…
LOVE that first shot btw, so effortless (trying to dig for other words than ‘chic’ since Duck is probably looming trying to find something to spam with …)
misss youuu

I agree, it’s so effortless! Like an episode of Made In Chelsea, I wonder how many takes it took to get it ‘just right’?
You look gorgeous in your kitchen wearing those divine shorts and cashmere jumper, the cake don’t look too bad either! x
beyond cute
oh how I want to bake !!
