STARE DIRECTLY AT THE CROSS…

Do you remember the Topshop Unique show? It was awesome.

I’ve been obsessed with it ever since February. As you know, I’m trying to invest in quality functional wardrobe pieces. Like most people I (sadly) don’t have a bottomless budget. I like shopping from high street stores when I can find good pieces. This is why the Topshop show rocked my world so much this past season. The collection was freaky-naughty and stuffed full of pieces I’d love to have in my wardrobe.

Imagine my absolute over-the-moon insane excitement then when I caught wind of the fact that the collection is hitting store next week. Yes, next week. The team were kind enough to send this top over to me in Zurich to try out. Yes, it is amazing. I loved it from the moment I pulled the silky slouchy oversized little number out of its cardboard box. I rubbed it against my cheek and whispered, ‘you and me were born to be together.’ Okay. I didn’t actually do that. This is what you really need to know though: the Topshop Uniqe AW12 collection is hitting stores on Monday. This top will retail for  £75 and if you want to be my twinsie you will get yourself one. I’ve already requested to have one put on hold because (sadly) the one I’m wearing has to be returned and, double-sady, there is no Topshop in Zurich.

p.s. I wore it into town the other day to check out all the sales… I perved big time on Trois Pommes and their Celine collection. #Drool

Wearing: Topshop Unique blouse, 7FAM jeans, Zara heels, Alexander McQueen bag, Moxham bracelet and Michael Kors belt.

  • Love the blouse and love Trois Pommes!

But even though Topshop is technically high street, the prices for the Unique/Topman Designs collections often aren’t… Last season Topman Designs was selling “silk” pyjama shorts and trousers for between £100 and £250. I’d rather wait until sales season and buy something higher quality if I’m going to spend that kind of money! Even some of their designer collaborations (particularly the Mary Katrantzou dresses) were more expensive than ‘actual designer’ clothing if you’re willing to look around a bit. Still, I do love the blouse :)

Totally agree with the point you are making. I was happy to hear that the shirt is retailing for under 100 quid. I just hope the quality is comparable to the sample. xx

      • Ja that’s also always a concern… Lexxi’s had some press samples before that looked so nice, then you see what ends up in the store… P.S. You are looking so freaking tan I hate you!

This looks amazing, I fell in love with the cross pattern as soon as I saw it. I know what they have in store can sometimes differ, but I’m hoping that some of the outerwear went into production. It’s so bizarre seeing all of the AW12 hitting stores now as we haven’t really had a SS12, though I’m definitely welcoming seeing something new. Good luck getting the blouse!

I love it and totally agree, you and that blouse were made for each other! The item that caught my eye during the unique show was the maroon floor-length coat, I’m just hoping it fits my realm of spending though, what’s interesting to note is that currently topshop has started giving a preview of what to expect for AW and feat. on the homepage is a coat which greatly resembles the topshop unique I fell in love with. It can’t be topshop unique as I didn’t see it on the runway so perhaps they’ll also sell a similar coat to retail at the regular high street price, I didn’t realise they did that?

    • I think sometimes the collections which go into store aren’t exact copies of the runway pieces but “interpretations” of them that they then decide will be more commercial. It happens all the time with designer brands, much to my chagrin.

I saw that coat on the homepage too – it is gorgeous! I also thought it looked like Unique but I don’t remember it from the collection…

  • This is simply schmexy, that is all. And totally jealous that you got a piece from Unique before it’s even launched, I hate you. xxx

    • the style crusader

I love it when you call me schmexy. p.s. I got it but I have to give it back so don’t be TOO jealous.

  • Kit

Yiahhhhhhhh Jen, did you dye your hair? It looks lovely.

I love TS Unique top you’re wearing, light and airy, wonder how it would look with a long white skirt.

  • I also loved the collection, but slightly disappointed since I am not sure if I will be anywhere near a Top Shop! Perhaps it will coincide with being in NYC in sept!

(Mexico slightly lagging… we are just getting an H&M this fall!)

  • You look gorgeous! The heels and the blouse are really nice! I LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • It’s a really cuuuuute blouse top!

  • This blouse is so cool! I actually loved the collection, which is a first I think, but exactly what Michael said, I want to see the quality of the clothes when they hit the store.

I’m glad you’ve put this top on hold, you need to own this!

  • LOVE the shirt, you look amazing!! XO Rebecca

Lovely blouse but i agree with someone else that you get better quality designer items for the same price as unique which is a bit irksome .
Also cant believe you have to give the item back :o

  • One of my most fave outfits of yours :) Totally my kinda look. Topshop Southampton better look out next weekend ;) x

  • I find Topshop so expensive for the quality, I must admit. I often walk round and gather an armful of clothes to try on, then buy none of it because of the price. £75 for a high-street blouse is ridiculous, ‘Unique’ or not. Which is a shame, because it’s lovely.

  • ahh pretty pretty pictures and glad to see you can wear a shirt out of the house. Currently it’s all turtlenecks, umbrellas and boots here :( very depressing.

When did you buy those zara heels because they are exactly what i have been looking for :)

    thanks

    xx

  • Lina

Lovely outfit! But how on earth can you walk with these heels in Zurich? Every time I am in the city I wear flats or wedges, because walking in heels -not to mention pin heels, like yours- on the pavement is impossible to me!

    Have a wonderful day!

    • the style crusader

Don’t judge me…. I had Converse in my bag. xx

      • Lina

        Oh, I see…. So that’s your secret…. :)
I am not judging you, I am amazed! :)

Zurich is a wonderful city, isn’t it? Especially when the sun is shining like on Saturday…
Trois pommes is one of my favorite stores, but waaaaaayyyyyy too expensive…. I would love though a celine cabas tote…..

Have a wonderful rest of the day.

P.S.: I love your photos from Zurich, because I also live in Switzerland and they make me feel a little better, when I am feeling lonely or too “foreigner” here. Thank you.

  • I flipping LOVE that blouse – you little hottie! x

  • Rea

  • GREAT outfit! Love the blouse!

  • Love, love, love the look! I, too, always try to seek out classic timeless pieces…. to me sometimes that means only buying black, white, and beige… :)

  • That history for this shirt! In any case I understand why you want it as it really has a loose fit that I like and respect must be really nice

    a beautiful evening, xx

  • Oh, Topshop, so out of my reach sometimes :( financially and geographically.
