overflowing origami.
Arctic shades and steely silvers cascaded over each model’s figure at the Masha Ma show at London Fashion Week last month. The collection was enticing, with billowing elaborately constructed shapes that somehow managed to look perfectly wearable. The combination of textures brought each look to life. Sheer creams were paired with aluminum foil-esque pieces and were topped off with satin soft blues, which worked to conjure up dreams of some sort of fantasy Terminator in Antarctica remix. The construction was stunning. One part of me was left wondering how such pieces could possibly be created, while the other half considered whether starting a new savings account now might make it possible to wangle myself into one of their pieces come Spring… it’s never too early to start planning for the future, right? Am adding a silver three finger ring and matching bum bag to my Christmas list pronto.

The shapes are architectural, yet feminine, not really minalist but not maximalist . . . It’s hard for me to nail down Masha Ma . . . which is good.
I meant “minimalist” . . .
Have never seen anything by this designer before but the collection is beautiful and very feminine. I need to get a move on with my Xmas list before I end up with things I don’t want!
Beautiful collection! So sheer and feminine! Good post!
You know what J? This designer is going places, last season little did we know abut Mash Ma. Now it’s the buzz word in the blogosphere. Tickets are gonna be hard to come by next for aw/11 season, I bet.
I think I’ve said this before and I’m gonna say it again, I like the way you present your runway shows. Cool.
cant believe it was last month already.. feels like yesterday. but i wish it was tomorrow..

Gorgeous images Jen, I love the silver pieces in this collection. xx
Great shots, I wish I could’ve seen this show! I was previously unaware of Masha Ma but will definitely be requesting a ticket for next season after seeing these lovely shapes, you caught some great details. I love the asymmetry.
This is more than a post, Jen: this is a gift that keeps on giving. KICKING SELF for not going to this show!!! I didn’t know who Masha Ma was either – and then Shini was wearing that coat – your photos are so unbelievably good, and I will be returning to this post again and again. This is poetry in motion.
oh wow, i love the 3rd picture, the details in the back is perfect.
Absolutely amazing collection, to me this is art in its highest form, watching the folds of fabric cascade down. There textures and shape help make the pieces come alive and stop being so flat. LOVE LOVE LOVE! and some amazing photography here!!! LOVE!
