MY 2012 IN REVIEW…
Wh-whaat? Where did 2012 go?
Lying in my bed on the eve of 2013, I’m scrolling through a years worth of blog posts. Nostalgia is setting in. Pass the tissues. Highlights definitely include fashion week and twirling in the teacups at EuroDisney with Shini. A trip to Jamaica also ranks high on the best moments from the year. My favourite post I did this past year has got to be ‘A letter to my fellow bloggers’, wherein I write a letter addressing the misconceptions and lies that surround being a blogger. I loved reading everyone’s comments and thoughts in response to the post. Thanks so much for sticking with me through 2012. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the year ahead.

I mean religiously read your blog :p It’s so great seeing some of your old posts – your style hasn’t changed much and that consistency is why I love you. I think you’ve really done well this year and I will one day get that purple MAC lipstick you have.

Wow, that does look like a lovely year. 2012 has def been more miss than hit for me but it has had its high points. Here’s hoping 2013 will be better. I’d love to go to Jamaica, maybe I’ll do a bit of research… x

I just found your blog and went back and read the message to bloggers post you mentioned here.
First of all, I just wanted to say that I think you are incredible. I think your transparency is admirable and your advice is completely forthright and not condescending in the least. Oftentimes it seems like bloggers’ “tips” or “word of wisdom” come off as demeaning – as if they’ve really reached a level at which they no longer have to worry about the things that the “lower level” bloggers routinely do.
I did not feel as if you conveyed this sentiment in the least. You seem to still appreciate what it’s like to be an undistinguished girl blogging just for the heck of it. I loved your follow up comment to that post in which you responded to a girl and explained your progression from amateur blogger to the one that you are now. Linking back to your original posts was such a brave and transparent thing to do – and I appreciate your humility.
Just want you to know that I have a ton of respect for you and your blog, and I’m glad that I fell upon it today.

Jen, thank you for including the link to your “Letter to my fellow bloggers” post. What a refreshingly honest take on blogging. In fact, it’s a relief reading it because most bloggers, particularly ones that do well, tend to glamorize the entire industry. Few, if ever would acknowledge the ups and downs. It seems that life is a fairy tale but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
May I say that I love your style? I look at each outfit and think, wow, I could wear that instead of that’s lovely but where the heck would I ever wear that to?
Hello Jen, it might be a bit late to write happy New Year, but since I’m commenting on this post I hope I’m still allowed to wish you all the best for 2013! When I read your about section, a smile came to my face: fashion and politics seem to be very interlinked given the number of people with a similar background (in my case, as I live in Brussels, my love affair with politics has to do with the EU)! I really admire your style, both in terms of fashion, photography and writing. I’m sure many people wrote to you after your “Letter to my fellow blogger” and I wanted to thank you for that post. I recently met another blogger friend and we started talking about how difficult it may be to understand the ‘rules of the games’ because these rules are not written and in a way it’s still a novelty, especially for people that arrived to fashion blogging by following their passion instead of ‘a profession’. Anyway, I look forward to another year of posts and portraits of you and – New Year resolution – I hope to comment more often! Take care, Caterina
